Peterborough youngsters have been contributing their experiences of lockdown to a national ‘video time capsule’.

The city’s Youth Inspired group and its members have been taking part in a ‘Coronavirus time capsule project’.

Different to the usual buried time capsule, the teens are filming what life for them is like each week during the pandemic.

Producing the videos together, the 12 members, some of whom have never met in person, have been able to connect with one another and build lasting friendships through the video project.

The ‘exciting’ project means each week, the group covers topics affecting young people in lockdown and they then have four days to create a video.

Covering important topics like mental health and ‘when all this is over’, the youth group keeps up to date with how all members are feeling and creates a video record.

Year 9 student Zara Khan, has really enjoyed the project so far.

She said: “It’s been a space where I was able to let go of my creativity and produce something future me, would be proud of.”

As well as producing videos to keep them connected, the project has enhanced their video editing skills, confidence and creativity.

Youth worker, Carl Storm who has headed the project with the Peterborough members, is proud of all their efforts.

He said: “This has been a brilliant project to be a part of. The creativity and enthusiasm from the young people involved in the Time Capsule videos has grown each week.

“I have been so impressed, they absolutely smashed it!”

The Coronavirus Time Capsule project is a national project run by Company Three aimed at helping young people connect and for teenagers to express themselves.
