More than 7,000 Peterborough people given COVID jab in last week

A total of 81,296 people in Peterborough have now had at least one dose of the jab (up to March 28) - 42 per cent of the adult population (aged 16+).
Last week, a total of 7,325 people were given the vaccine in the city.

Hide AdAs in recent weeks, a majority of the people to get the first dose are now in the under 60 age group.
A total of 21,656 people aged under 50 - 18 per cent of the people aged 16-49 in Peterborough - have had at least one dose, up by 2,727 from the previous week.
For people aged 50-54, 10,785 people have now had the jab - 70 per cent of the Peterborough population of that age range - up by 2,021 from the previous week.
A further 2,033 people aged 55-59 have now had at least one dose in the past week, leading to a total of 10,545 - 76 per cent of that age range in Peterborough

Hide AdFor people aged between 60 and 64, a further 380 people were given the jab, so that 9,275 Peterborough residents in that age group have had the jab - 80 per cent of the population.
A total of 7,943 people aged 65-69 have had the jab in Peterborough - 85 per cent of that age group - up 142 from the previous week.
A further 20 people aged 70-74 have had the vaccine, a total of 7,704 - or 90 per cent of the population.
For people aged 75-79, seven more people had received the vaccine - a total of 5,483, or 93 per cent of the population.

Hide AdAnd NHS Engalnd have clarified figures from last week, bringing the number of people aged 80+ down by 5 to 7,905, or 93 per cent of the population.
Across Peterborough and Cambridgeshire, a total of 452,140 doses have been given out - including 35,896 second doses.
Residents are reminded the full effect of the first dose of the vaccine does not kick in until three weeks after receiving the injection.
