Peterborough man charged with carrying knife in city street

A Peterborough man has been charged with carrying a knife in the city at the weekend.

William Smith, 55, was arrested on Sunday evening (21 June) by officers in Padholme Road after reports of violent behaviour.

Smith, of no fixed address, has since been charged with possession of a knife in a public place, threatening behaviour and criminal damage.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court today (23 June).
