Youth also charged with possession of drugs and a machete

A teenager is due to appear in court today (Thursday) in connection with a knife-point robbery in Peterborough earlier this week.

The 16-year-old from Gunthorpe, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested by neighbourhood policing officers on patrol in Welland on Tuesday evening (25 October).

He has since been charged with robbery of £500 cash, theft of alcohol and being in possession of a knife in a public place, all relating to an incident at Donaldson News and Convenience Store in Gunthorpe on Monday (24 October), as well as being in possession of a machete in a public place, and possession of cannabis, relating to his arrest on Tuesday.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court today.
