ICE HOCKEY: Peterborough Pirates became the worst team in British ice hockey history after suffering a 29th consecutive defeat when losing 9-2 at Guildford. It beat the 28 defeats suffered by Aviemore Blackhawks in 1987-88.

Hide AdFOOTBALL: Dean Clarke scored four times for Oundle Town as they beat Eye United 6-0 in the Peterborough League Premier Division.
FOOTBALL: Prince of Wales were crowned Mid-Anglia League Division Three champions after a 5-2 win over Pathbeam. Their players on target were Simon Broom (3), Peter Daws and Jeff Bridges.
POSH: Barry Fry’s side picked up welcome points in their Division Two relegation battle by beating Bristol City 3-1 at home. Roger Willis (2) and Ricky Otto got the goals.
RUGBY: Tim Davison and Neil Duffield both scored two tries for Borough Colts in a 43-32 win over Old Scouts.

Hide AdFOOTBALL: Grandsons of two former Posh stars combined to earn Thorpe Wood Under 12s a 1-0 win over Great Burford in the fourth round of the EASY Cup. Matthew Parrott, grandson of Cyril, scored the goal, latching on to a through-ball from Scott Crawford (grandson of Ian).

ICE HOCKEY: Peterborough Pirates staged a remarkable fightback against Medway Bears in a Heineken League game at Bretton. They trailed 8-3 going into the final period but ended up winning 10-8. Todd Bidner scored four of their goals.
CRICKET: Old Deaconians were crowned county indoor champions after beating Waresley in the final. Paul Bowes starred with 46 out of their 140-5 total.
RUGBY: Borough beat London New Zealand 14-3 at Fengate with tries coming from skipper Danny Kitching and man-of-the-match Mark Dickinson.

Hide AdPOSH: Noel Cantwell’s side turned on the style to win 3-1 at Crewe in Division Four. Steve Phillips, Jackie Gallagher and Errington Kelly got the goals.
FOOTBALL: Baker Perkins remained in the hunt for the UCL Division One title after a 1-0 win at Timken Duston. Gary Scotcher got the goal.
BOXING: Lennie Gloster, Peterborough’s Southern Area light-welterweight champion, stopped journeyman Jeff Decker from South Shields in the first round at a professional show at the Wirrina. Dave Pierre, Gary Barron and Gary De Roux were also Peterborough winners.

FOOTBALL: Phorpres beat Leverington 4-2 to reach the PFA Cup semi-finals. Their scorers were Dennis McPartlin, Mick Parrott, Ian Bradshaw and John Clark.

Hide AdFOOTBALL: Glinton Reserves progressed to the semi-finals of the Northants Area Cup by crushing Brackley 7-1. Paul Kirk and Martin Pateman both bagged a brace with Malcolm Webb, David Lilley and Dave Squires completing the rout.
RUGBY: Two Dave Harris penalties earned Borough thirds a 6-0 win over Baker Perkins.
HOCKEY: Tony Hansen and Paul Barber were the Peterborough Town scorers in a 2-2 draw at home to Pelicans in Division One of the Central East League.
FOOTBALL: Peterborough Boys reached the semi-finals of the East Anglia Cup after beating West Suffolk 5-2. Tim Gale (2), Simon Wilson and Nigel Evans (2) got their goals.

BADMINTON: Peterborough City thrashed Wisbech 8-1 in a Peterborough League match. Their winning line-up was Mike Dunne, Brian Hawes, Jim Cochrane, Brian Herron, Gordon Kind and Pete Curtis.

BOXING: Peterborough Amateur Boxing Club middleweight star Kelly Sherwood made it three wins on the trot when he outpointed Glyn Doleman of Derby at a show in Northampton.
BOXING: Peterborough’s Clive Hogben (15) reached the semi-finals of the English Schoolboy Championships with a points win against A. Salter of Lewisham.

Hide AdPOSH: Gordon Clark’s side were walloped 7-1 by Sunderland at Roker Park in the fourth round of the FA Cup. Posh’s consolation goal came from Tommy Watson.
POSH: Two days later Posh lost 2-0 at home to QPR in the Third Division. Posh man-of-the-match Ron Cooper did a great job shadowing QPR’s star striker Rodney Marsh.
RUGBY: Borough thrashed Oundle School 39-3. Tom McClure led the way with two tries and a drop-goal. Borough seconds were also big winners. They hammered Saffron Walden 36-0 with Les Dixon crossing for five tries.
HOCKEY: Two goals from David Brownlow earned Peterborough Town a 2-0 win over Old Dunstablians.
HOCKEY: Tony Newall scored five goals for St John’s mixed team in an 8-1 win over Lincoln Road Venturers.
