A motion to be debated at Peterborough City Council’s Full Council meeting on wednesday (March 3) says the army veteran’s legacy should be acknowledged after he raised £33 million for NHS charities by walking laps of his garden in Marston Moretaine.
The 100-year-old passed away on February 2.
The motion from Cllr John Howard, Conservative member for Hargate and Hempsted, states: “Council acknowledges the sad loss of Captain Sir Tom Moore During the toughest phase of the pandemic he raised all our spirits and made an enormous contribution with his phenomenal fundraising efforts and the inspiration he gave us to get through the coronavirus crisis with his heart-warming messages of positivity and optimism.
