Silence at Peterborough War Memorial to commemorate Battle of the Somme
The service of commemoration will be held tomorrow (Friday, July 1) from 10.30am.
The Mayor of Peterborough, Cllr David Sanders, and deputy mayor, Cllr Keith Sharp, will be attending.

Hide AdThe first day of the Somme saw British forces suffer more than 57,000 casualties.
By the end of the 141 day long battle, Britain and its allies had suffered over 400,000 casualties.
A two minute’s silence will also be held across the country at 7.28am leading up to the moment, at 7:30am, when men went over the top at the Somme.
