The A605 is to be closed overnight for several days as part of a major road scheme.

Whittlesey Road will be closed on weeknights from Tuesday, May 4 to Friday, May 14 from 8pm to 6am between Toll Road and the A605 Stanground bypass.

This is part of a £5.5 million project to create a designated lane to turn right on the A605 between Stanground and Whittlesey towards Pondersbridge.

Currently, during busy periods traffic builds up all the way back into Stanground due to vehicles waiting to turn off the A605, but the new lane will allow drivers to pass by.

The project is scheduled to finish in the summer.

The overnight closures will affect residents in Whittlesey who are already facing a month of temporary traffic lights from Monday as part of a £32 million scheme to build a new road and bridge over the Ely to Peterborough railway line.

The B1040 (Ramsey Road) in Whittlesey also closed on Monday for carriageway works with the closure in place for six weeks.
