Chatteris puncher Jordan Gill is one win away from a World title fight.

The big Peterborough United fan takes on two-time World champion Kiko Martinez from Spain at Wembley Arena on Saturday night.

Gill will be defending the European featherweight title he won with a dramatic late knockout victory over Karim Guerfi in February.

The local man soaked up heavy pressure from his French opponent before launching a stunning one-punch knockout towards the end of the gruelling fight.

The winner on Saturday is in line for a shot at Englishman Josh Warrington’s IBF World title.

Gill said: “This fight puts me at world level.

"Kiko is ranked number eight by Ring magazine and any time you fight a top 10 Ring magazine fighter it should put you in the rankings.

"This is a fight to establish myself on the world scene.

"I don’t just want to be at European level. I want to be a World champion.

"I want to be at world level and this is great fight for me to take on and do just that.”

Martinez held the IBF featherweight title from 2021 to 2022, a title he lost to Warrington earlier this year, and the IBF super-bantamweight title from 2013 to 2014.

Martinez (36), nicknamed ‘the Sensation’ has lost 11 of his 56 professional bouts, but he’s mixed it with some highly-ranked fighters.

Gill (28), nicknamed ‘the Thrill’ has won 27, drawn one and lost one of his 29 pro bouts.
