McDonald was also fined in 2017 for an attack on a former partner.

McDonald joined the club at the age of 17 from Chasetown in January 2013 and was given a four-year-contract in April after a run that had seen him score 11 goals in his previous three games.

Despite being a scoring sensation for Posh’s youth side, he left London Road by mutual consent in November 2013 which is believed to have been related to an off-field incident.

Fellow highly-rated youngster Jevani Brown was also released a few days before.

McDonald signed for York City following his release from Posh and went onto join Derby County in the summer of 2014.

He failed to make an appearance for the club, however, and went onto play for clubs such as Nuneaton, Black Country Rangers, Mickleover Sports, Bromsgrove Sporting and Tamworth in non-league.

He most recently played for Mickleover in the Southern League Premier Division Central.

The former Posh man has joined both Marcus Maddison and Flynn Clarke who have been jailed in recent months.
