Peterborough United legend formally announces his playing retirement after almost 800 career appearances
The 44 year-old has resisted hanging up his boots for good in the last few seasons, but believes the high of a successful promotion campaign is the right time to go. Tyler is the current Posh goalkeeping coach. He sat on the first-team bench twice this season.

Hide Ad“It took me several days to recover from the training I had to do for the two games when I sat on the bench this season which told me it’s time to finally call it a day.
“It seems right after a great promotion and all our concentration must be on staying in the Championship for several years.”
Tyler made 494 first-team appearances for Posh and almost 800 career appearances in total. He also played for Luton Town and Bury.
Only Tommy Robson (559) made more Posh appearances, although Tyler was named on more team sheets (653-576) thanks to 159 unused substitute appearances! Tyler kept 128 clean sheets for Posh.

Hide AdTyler made his Posh debut in a televised match (lost 0-4) at Barry Fry’s Birmingham City in 1994. He made his last Posh appearance in a 1-1 draw at home to Oldham in League One in March, 2017.
He received a rare 10/10 match rating from the Peterborough Telegraph for a performance in an FA Cup replay win at Oldham in December, 2000.
Earlier that year he had been outstanding as Posh secured promotion from Division Three with a 1-0 play-off final win against Darlington at Wembley.
